Re: When will GM stop making the Spark EV?

From what I've heard from some unofficial GM sources, it will only be a few more months...likely this summer they'll stop making them. With the time to ship these from Korea and distribute them, that means new inventory will stop rolling in by the third quarter. This makes sense, since Bolt EV ZEV c...

Re: Replacement battery cost

In 2022, there will definitely be Spark EV batteries available. GM will have a stash that they squirreled away for warranty requirements that nobody needed, and they'll probably be for sale for pennies on the dollar. Meanwhile, those who need a battery not covered under warranty (for example, a car ...

Re: Front tire wear, is this normal?

I am in a unique position that I race my car on occasion. I have race tires and wheels when I want maximum performance, which stick great but result in a huge reduction in efficiency even in normal driving. The rest of the time I use the Ecopia EP150 because I haven't found evidence that any other t...

Re: Front tire wear, is this normal?

You're not alone. My first set of fronts were bald in less than 10,000 miles as well, which included several driver training and autocross events. These tires absolutely aren't made to handle aggressive driving. They're designed to be quiet and efficient, everything else be damned.

Re: Back up camera?

If you go to this website, you can see all of the calibration numbers for different parts of your car (kind of neat to see what could be reprogrammed in there): https://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web Important to note: 95300891 - Rear View Camera Calibration Using this same website for the Canadian...

Re: conservative minimum range (with climate, highway etc.)

I tell people the Spark can go between 70 and 110 miles depending on speed, temps, and how much stop and go you have.

Re: Backup Camera & Turn Signal Repeaters

However, I also noticed that it has a backup camera and side turn signal repeaters - were these ever offered as options (as far as I know, they were not, but maybe I'm wrong) - or are they more likely to be aftermarket? Can you get a VIN number for this? With the VIN, we can look up the software pr...

Re: My new (used 2014 spark ev)

I'd appreciate if you put some details in the "modifications" section so others can find out how you did your lowering and what you think of it. I get a lot of questions on mine, but since mine was pretty involved and more focused on racing than appearance it's a bit overkill and intimidating for mo...

Re: instrument lighting?

I flip the auto lights off during the day, and leave the lights in the auto setting at night. This alleviates the brightness fluctuation problem entirely, as the instrument lights go to full brightness when you switch off the auto lights.
