Technically, I did move both male plugs. I'm guessing you're asking why didn't I leave the female plug closest to the driver's door alone (instead of relocating it) and just move the male plug...? If so, I seem to recall that there is a computer mounted there that would have caused problems with the clip going there and also would have caused a big hump in the mat. With that said, I wouldn't dare say that my first try (and anybody's, as far as I know) is the best way...there's always room for improvement!

Bryce, excellent writeup. I'm about to tackle this upgrade.

Could you have countersunk the female clip into the mat, similar to the factory holes?

I imagine that it can be done, but I've not investigated how.

I just ordered these all-weather floor mats, and they have a set specifically tailor-cut for the Spark EV. After you click on the Make/Model/Year selection boxes a "Details" box opens up that allows you to select EV/Non-EV.

I just received the mats today and they fit perfectly in the Spark EV, no modifications required.

Here are some pics:

The 2016 Spark ICE all weather floormats look a bit different than the 2013 - 2015 floormats (no notch for the gas cap cover release). Has anybody compared a set to see how well (or not) they fit in the EV? I know 2016 ICE Spark is different from 2015 Sparks - but the footprint in the pictures look very similar.

GM 42392363
2015 Salsa Red 2LT (for daughter 3) - RETURNED
2016 Black Granite 2LT (for daughter 1)
2016 Electric Blue 1LT (for Wife)
2016 Silver Ice 1LT (for Mom)
2015 Summit White 2LT (for ME - FINALLY!)

Well on my way to collecting the whole set . . .

I went down to the dealer today to check the mounting points for the 2016 ICE Spark. There's no cut-out for the fuel filler door, but the floor mounted clips that secure the mats to the floor are ~4-5 inches from the door sill. The EV clips are ~2 inches from the door sill, so the mounting points would still need to be adjusted - no direct mounting solution there. (Heavy Sigh)

So you're not interested in the all-weather mats that fit the Spark EV perfectly that I referenced in the link above? They really do fit great...
