Other tricks to make it do it(since it likely needs help): Air up tire to the max psi listed on the side wall(to reduce it's traction), armor all the tread, apply the rear parking brake to keep the vehicle speed down and let the tire spin. Easiest to get the technique in the rain or on a wetted surface. Also find some old well worn slick(polished) asphalt and don't try it on 40 grit concrete. Or light the tire up in a garage with a polished or sealed smooth concrete floor(use the parking brake). Or put a skinny spare tire on the front right corner and light that pizza cutter up and leave a pencil line all the way down the street! And get it on video when you do!
There was some speculation (probably this forum) that they removed or tricked wheel sensors. If you just disable traction control via display, it still doesn't spin the tires like the video shows. The Volt is also torque limited up to around 10-15 mph. One way some people have gotten around this is to hold the brake while pressing down on the accelerator. Then when you are ready to go, just release the brakes. If you pressed down far enough on the accelerator, you should be able to "launch" much faster than flooring the pedal alone.Petrolhead wrote:I've been able to spin tires a bit in the spark from a stop with traction control and stabilitrak off, but nothing like that which appears to be in the dry.
