Has anyone tested their Spark EV at the track to see if it measures up to the Road and Track test of 16.0 @ 87.6 mph?

My Fit EV tested to 16.31 @ 84.76 even though Car and Driver only got 16.8 @ 83 mph. The only thing I did to it was increase the tire pressures.

Just finished 3 back-to-back bi-directional 1/4 mile passes instrumented with a 10hz GPS. Full battery, Sport mode, Traction Control and Stabilitrack off. 60f, no wind.

Looks like 15.8 @ 85mph or so.

Average of each bi-dir run.

Run 1
Dist 0.25
Time 15.70
Speed 84.85
0-60 7.6

Run 2
Dist 0.25
Time 15.80
Speed 85.39
0-60 7.6

Run 3
Dist 0.25
Time 15.80
Speed 86.12
0-60 7.5

Wow that's quick. Thank for posting your results.

86 mph is good speed. I'm impressed how much quicker it is than my Fit EV regarding the ET. I'm only 1.5 mph less in mph but 5 tenths slower in ET.

Looks like my performance data was spot on.

Nice! I'm going to try some shorter front tires in the spring to see if I can get my Fit EV to 60' better. The Honda controller is set up to deliver a lot less initial power than your Spark. No wheel spin at all. Not even a squeal off the line.

I only see three Sparks and can't find the owner's map? Do I need to be a member?

What's the forum member's username that has the Spark in MI? That's cool!

This thread is about 1/4 mile times for EV's. Perhaps your post was meant for another thread?

RPM and Torque are just components of Power. Gearing will get you any RPM or Torque value from any amount of power, but not vice versa ;p EV's do have ginormous motor torque, but (most) are single speed which equate to driving around in 3rd-4th gear in most cars.
So do you think that running say 1" shorter front tires on the front will improve my 60' times? It will be interesting to see what it does to my top end speed.

Production EV time slips are very rare at this point. I posted mine with the only other one that I have seen in this 500e forum thread.

emotodude, I just noticed your signature. Did you go to the track and run the 16.0 sec @ 87.6 mph?

I'm working towards matching the Spark EV's 1/4 mile time of 16.0 seconds with my Fit EV. So I mounted a pair of shorter 205/50R15 front tires to effectively lower the gear ratio for better acceleration. I also did some minor aerodynamic tweaks by removing the side mirrors and adding a temporary grill block. My former personal best time was 16.31 @ 84.76 mph. It worked well and my new record is now 16.14 @ 84.99 mph.

Do you turn on the sport mode when you do your run?

Running a 16.0? I'd say that's a definite "yes".

It looks like I will get my chance to race a Spark EV after all. There are a couple of dealerships selling them here in NY and my friend just bought one.

Pictures or it didn't happen!

I'll see if I can't get to a test and tune with mine soon. I've done a few minor mods, but obviously not much we can do to add power yet. :)

ET slips are still quite rare for our compliance EV's. I thought you might all enjoy an outing between a Fiat 500e and a Fit EV at Irwindale.

What tires did you use and did you heat them up first?
