Videos of Sparky Flexing Its Torque

It is possible to do very long burnouts at low speed (or even without moving) by having the brakes on on the non-driving wheels. This is done using "line locks" on rear wheel drive vehicles (line locks when engaged enable fluid pressure on the front brakes to be maintained after releasing the...

    Take out the backseats?

Be warned this weight reduction strategy doesn't always yield good results. I applied this method to my 'racing snail' and surgically removed his shell to make him go faster, but if anything I've made him more sluggish.

    Take out the backseats?

If it really did reduce the vehicle's weight by as much as 75 lbs and that weight was taken primarily off the rear it could reduce the 0-60 by almost 0.2 seconds for two reasons, lighter vehicle (by ~2.4%) and a slightly higher percentage (by ~2%) of the vehicles weight being over the driving...

    Spark EV Wheels For Sale

If I remember correctly you had the 205s on the front? Do the 195s fit on the front without the spacers?

    I test drove a Tesla??

Tesla is now offering an upgrade for $29,000 to the original Roadster that surprisingly uses LG Chem cells like the later Spark EVs. This new pack bumps up the range by about 50% to around 400 miles per charge! Making it possibly the longest range EV out there! Tesla normally goes for small...

EV Parking Spots --- Getting ICE'd.

Grenades gets you in serious trouble, I think a more appropriate response to 'Getting ICE'd' is they get BEV'd (Banana Exhaust Vengeance) a la Beverly Hills Cop http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KkiMMSETf4A/TnYiz0_ksxI/AAAAAAAAFGg/GXp5yyiOwuE/s1600/BevHillsCop_062Pyxurz.jpg

SparkEV is the most efficient car in the world

Unfortunately EPA listed mileage numbers are not strictly comparable with each other for a number of reasons (many are conducted in the manufacturer's own non-standardized labs, companies are allowed to use data from one power-train when it gets placed in a different chassis, some car makers...

    2014 sparke collector car?

While there are some cars that are almost guaranteed to become collector cars, some others are far more difficult to predict. Many of the odd ones that make collector status are cars that gain 'cult' followings like VW Beetles, early Jeeps, CRXs, and Datsun 510s. How many people would've guessed...

Has anybody tried these portable EVSEs ??

My cheap 240v 16 amp Duosida portable EVSE from Amazon is still working flawlessly (have used it now for 2000+ miles of driving). However, I saw an article on chargedevs.com today that said many of the cheap EVSEs sold on Amazon haven't been thoroughly and independently checked for safety (see...

    ev range question..

Some battery management systems base calculations on previous coulomb counting versus voltage data so they may not be too bad in the middle range as long as there have been a few recent deep discharges to make the extrapolation more accurate. On the temperature point most lithium ion battery...

    GOM range question

The secret to extreme economy is to only pick up the hefty passengers at the top of steep hills and to kick them out at the bottom. If you can't find any passengers just use rocks :-)

    ev range question..

My 2015 model usually calculates out to have a usable capacity of between 17.2 and 17.9 Kwh (it seems to bounce around randomly within this range). Miles per Kwh have vary from a low of 2.8 to a high of 6.7 and I know the causes for these extremes :-).

    Greener for the winter

brakeperformance.com has the below to say about such rotor deposits 'Heat spots will lead to brake harshness, vibration and reduced structural integrity. Heat spots on brake rotors occur when brakes aren't broken in (bedded) properly and the brake pad deposits on the rotor accumulate and...

Just look forward to enjoying some very affordable, environmentally friendly performance.

Is anyone else experiencing brake issues [failure]?

With all the redundancy built into modern braking systems it is hard to totally lose all braking power, some types of failure may cause the loss of power assistance making the braking require much more pedal effort, other failures may cause the loss of braking on just two wheels (depending on...

    0 to 60 times?

I believe the 2015/2016s were listed by GM as being slightly quicker than the 2014s (7.2 versus 7.5 seconds), while the somewhat heavier and bigger battery equipped 2014s appear to have about a 10 mile longer unofficial range even though their GM cited range is the same.

    Rear Window Decal

Looks like in my area of CT (06518) our electricity is relatively clean :-). Glad to know my Spark isn't running largely on coal. However, even if all the electricity did come from coal a Spark EV would still be cleaner than most other vehicles (mouse over the points in the graph link below)...
