What's the total, and usable, battery capacity?

At 100,000 miles, your degradation in any lithium car battery will likely be at least 20%. In a Nissan LEAF, it could easily be 30-40%. A new Nissan LEAF battery is about $6000. For a Chevy Spark EV, I suspect that it might be difficult to gat any new battery (merely because of the extreme...

Can I use the Tesla chargers?

We turn that ^^^^ above into something that operates like this:

Can I use the Tesla chargers?

This is strictly AC charging, via any car's J1772 port. Nothing to do with DC (CHAdeMO, SAE-CCS-Combo1, Supercharger, etc)
  4. T

Can I use the Tesla chargers?

I seriously doubt that Tesla is working on other DC adaptors in the near term. The CHAdeMO one was a real challenge for them, and frankly, no other standard comes close to CHAdeMO for worldwide deployment.

Can I use the Tesla chargers?

It will be an adaptor for the Tesla AC chargers (typically at Tesla service centers and hotels). Tesla Supercharger (DC) will not be offered, unless Tesla agrees to sell licenses for use (not likely, except for auto manufacturer level).

Can I use the Tesla chargers?

We will have a Tesla to J1772 adaptor this fall.

What's the total, and usable, battery capacity?

There are two fundamental differences between RAV4 EV and Model S: 1) RAV4 and Mercedes B-Class use 2900mah Panasonic cells, while Model S uses 3100-3400. 2) Model S has full time temperature control, while RAV4 is completely "dead" when turned off.

    Range question to forum

You can simply calculate the energy to go the distance, plus the additional energy required to make the climb. I'll use 62mph, because I know that the Spark will consume 0.2kWh per mile (5 miles per kWh) on level, no wind, dry ground without the heater and a battery temperature of 70F degrees...

What's the total, and usable, battery capacity?

My 2012 Tesla powered RAV4 EV has about 15% loss at 50,000 miles and 28 months. I have three other Tesla powered cars, but they are all too new to get viable data from.

LET'S BUILD THE CALIFORNIA WEST COAST ELECTRIC HIGHWAY

While all good info, this proposal does not promote single station installs EXCEPT as the inbetween locations that will likely whither away as cars get more range. The proposal makes no references to how "easy" or difficult it might be. It really has no bearing.

What's the total, and usable, battery capacity?

The 2015 is about 19kWh usable, and the 2015 is about 18kWh usable. One caution on battery capacity is that temperature is a big variable, as is degradation (increased internal resistance). Virtually all batteries are rated at 20-25C (68F to 77F) degrees.

    Level 2 Charger recommendation

The 2011-2012 LEAF / Panasonic built units don't work on any of the Tesla powered vehicles.

LET'S BUILD THE CALIFORNIA WEST COAST ELECTRIC HIGHWAY

Parallel to any existing efforts, for the very reasons outlined. Yes, minimum would be two chargers per site, with at least two standards supported, and possibly three. I'm not convinced that is exactly what BMW / VW / ChargePoint will provide. Yes, they may do 100 chargers, and those may be...

LET'S BUILD THE CALIFORNIA WEST COAST ELECTRIC HIGHWAY

The most important thing is the interval, not the facility. 60-100 miles intervals handles all those future 150 mile and over range cars. Generally speaking, you'll take any place that meets the range requirements.

    Level 2 Charger recommendation

Our JESLA portable charge cable is not really direct competitors to EVSEupgrade, but if you have a 16 amp charger, that Nissan / Panasonic unit is a good one (2013 and newer... the 2011-2012 units are not recommended). I actually have one. It's a hold-over from my Nissan LEAF days. Our JESLA...

LET'S BUILD THE CALIFORNIA WEST COAST ELECTRIC HIGHWAY

It would be near impossible to pitch the state on this, and make it conditional on what some private company may do. The West Coast Electric Highway got burned in Portland and Seattle when Blink was supposed to build out those metro areas, so the state's of Washington and Oregon didn't build in...

LET'S BUILD THE CALIFORNIA WEST COAST ELECTRIC HIGHWAY

Guys, there are oodles of routes not covered. I'm pitching a concept, and it has to be simple. REAL SIMPLE. The routes chosen are heavily traveled routes. That's why there's freeway on every one. If we can get 40 plazas plus 50 smaller "in-between" chargers, let's call that phase one.
