    Charging at home on 240v

I would recommend against the Voltec charger. There are tons of Volt owner that call them crap and die just beyond the 1 year warranty. May as well spend another $100 and buy the Power Max that gives you 30A in case you get a faster charging EV in he future. I just installed my 220v outlet last...

    Charging at home on 240v

I just ran a dedicated 220 outlet to the garage yesterday in anticipation for my Bosch charger in the mail. Buy a dryer cord and wire that into the charger and plug it in. Many Volt owners have been doing this for years. Now my Volt and Spark can charge fast! Can't wait for the package.

    Charging at home on 120V

First off, congrats on he new Spark EV! The car is ready to take a charge anytime you need it, so plug it in whenever you want to. A few things to consider though are whether you have your electricity provider setup t charge you for peak, midpeak and off peak hours. If so, you can program the...

New spark owner with already a couple modifications.

We just surpassed 700 miles on our Spark and over 15k in our Volt and 100% of our driving is in L. Love driving without using the brakes

    Bosch home charging station

I ended up buying the slightly better model Power Max 30A with the 18ft cord for $593, so I could have the higher amps for future EV use and to know that I didn't buy the lowest model offered, since the voucher ended up paying for most of it anyway. After shipping, tax and fees, it cost me $172...

    Utility Bill for Charging?

If you haven't already done so, I would switch to a term of use plan so you can charge the car on off peak times for cheaper. I'm with PG&E and had my Volt for a year already and charging off peak averages $0.13 p/kwh compared to peak rates at around $0.45 p/kwh. I usually see about 100-150 kwh...

$7500 Federal Tax Credit on Leased Spark EV's

No leases are not eligible for the fed credit and the dealer gets it instead. If you lease for 3 years, you still get the state rebates though (i.e. CA $2500).

Home Charging Stations, What Do You Guys Have??

The $500 off the Bosch charger with no installation required, is still close to free as you can get, since the charger is only $593 for 30A 18ft cord. Mine is coming in the mail soon and will do the install myself.

Strange "duck" sound upon takeoff - anyone same problem?

The rears are 4ohm 4"x6" and fronts are 4" round. I tried the 3ohm 6402 Infinity speakers and they sounded worse with a lot of treble and not as clean of bass, so took them back. Will try out the front 4ohm Kicker or Polk next for the front, since those are the ones that lack the most bass...

    Aftermarket speakers?

So the stock speakers are marked 4ohms but I went ahead and bought the infinity 6402cfx to try them out. Before mounting them I plugged them in to compare and they sounded WORSE than the stock speakers. Good thing for easy Frys returns. I may end up just swapping the front for now instead.

    Aftermarket speakers?

Has anyone replaced the stock speakers yet? The rear speakers seem easy to access and sure could be way better. Wondering what the wattage output for each speaker would be to find a good match.

    What's the range like?

Just drive to Half Moon Bay from Campbell and back. Round trip of 75 miles and had 15 left when we got home. Great little car! Drive 65 on the freeway and had AC on for half of the trip. Average was 4.7kwh/mi.

    Bosch home charging station

Hey guys, new to the site and just picked up our Spark EV on Sunday so just wondering if anyone else has received the $500 credit and installed their charger themselves. I plan to have a friend run the 220 box to the garage, but wondering if you need to confirm installation with Bosch with proof...
