Hey, i went to charge my car today, and the car honked but wouldnt turn solid green. i went to 2 other stations to make sure it wasnt the machine.Same issue.
I dropped it off at chevy tonight, but the volt specialist already left, so i wont know until tomorrow what is causing this. Has this happened to anyone here before, and what did the dealership say was the cause. If I can help the dealership fix it faster from someone here that would be great. They never saw a sparke in vegas so this is going to be fun.

Also, I hit a major pothole yesterday. The tire went in the hole about halfway. it was really freaking deep. Is there something underneath the car, next to the tire, that i hit that might have caused this issue, because this charging problem happened after hitting the pothole. I never had any issues before. It could be just a coincedence, but i thought I would throw it out there.

That rings a bell. I think I read that someone else hit a pothole hard and it disabled some electronics, as the car assumes that it has been in an accident.

Follow up: Looks like it was just a glitch. the dealer said it works now, and the tech said all the tests were good. could the pothole have caused the glitch and then it reset the next day. I guess thats possible. Just be careful when going over potholes and speed bumps. it could cause a glitch.

Update 2: Looks like it wasnt fixed after all. I tried to charge my car a couple days ago and this time it was dead. no lights at all. it wouldnt charge at all. I took it to the dealer and they said the whole charging thing needs to be replaced. its shorted out they said. its under warranty so thats a relief. i have a question: can washing your car cause this kind of short. how do you know when you run it threw the car wash that water isnt getting through. under the hood is all electrical, and the charge port will have a few specs of water near it after washing. i always have to dry it when done. what you guys think.

Great you have a warranty repair.

"The whole charging thing" is kind of vague. You could ask for a more technical description, or not....
I saw reports of cracks in the plastic charge port assembly on the Volt forum.

Dealers get paid by Chevy to replace parts. Sometimes that's easier than actual trouble shooting. And you can't expect the local dealer techs to suddenly be EV trouble shooters. They are expert oil changers tho....
There should be Tech Support that is EV specific at the mother ship, but oh well....

Moisture is not an issue.
How do you explain my charging outside year round, driving rain and snow and never having an issue.
Freezing rain is different. That caused a problem. I had to karate chop through the ice to release the button on the charge cable.
