Infotainment display goes blank

First of all, make sure you have the screen brightness (on the dash, left of the instrument cluster) turned up. I've made the mistake of bumping that and thinking my display wasn't working before, it's easy to do.

Otherwise, if the screen goes blank, turn the car off and then back on. Always fixes it for me. Sometimes if you unplug the USB, plug in the USB, etc. it comes back, but sometimes nothing except a power cycle will fix it. Annoying, but fortunately nothing mission critical relies on the flaky center screen...the instrument cluster is rock solid, as it is a safety critical system and as a result is a much more robust design.

I've tried different things but the problem continues to happen.
They have checked it at the dealership but there are no error codes and of course the display always works perfectly when I'm within a mile of the technician.
It'll be off when I start it and then come on as I drive it or the opposite. If the radio is on when it goes off, the radio continues to play but access to the station, changing the charging options or answering a phone call is not possible. I have to leave it on immediate charging so when I'm away from home I can charge if needed. When I'm at home I want delayed charging.

Well...........just got a call from the dealership. They display finally went into the fail mode and they tracked it down to the rheostat in in the display brightness switch. They are going to replace the swiitch.
If anyone is in the Bay Area and needs work done on their Volt or Spark EV, I recommend FH Dailey in San Leandro. Their service department tries their hardest to take care of you.
