Steering wheel?

I have a 1LT on order, I wanted the cloth interior rather than the vinyl. I understand that the 1 has a different steering wheel than the 2? Are they interchangeable? Much different?

I believe both steering wheels are the same. Just one is rubber the other leather.

Replacing the steering wheel is probably more trouble than it's worth.

The 2LT has a leatherette wrapped steering wheel. Leatherette is a synthetic leather product (high end vinyl). This was mentioned as a positive in several reviews.

Seems to me you could just add a real leather wrap to your 1LT steering wheel and call it good. This is given that you dont mind that the leather wrap will increase diameter where you hold on to the steering wheel. To me this would be better quality than the leatherette.

Wheelskins is one brand and there are others. Look on YouTube for example of installation.

I have the 2LT steering wheel and don't like how clammy it feels. I'd also appreciate the rim to be a little thicker. Hence I'd love to put a better leather cover on it. I covered my wife's Odyssey wheel with a Honda leather wrap and that was a big improvement. I doesn't appear there's a Chevy equivalent. The Wheelskins site lists the cover size at 14.5 x 4.5 but I wonder how well that would fit over the protrusions at the 2 and 10 o'clock position on the wheel. Looks like they're about $60.

I'd definitely go this route verses replacing the 1LT wheel with a 2LT wheel and avoid the cost, complexity, dealing with airbags, etc.

Do it and let us know how it goes!

Upon further investigation, it looks like it is real leather. It's definitely a higher quality than the vinyl 2LT seats. I took a few pictures and will see if I can upload them.

You are correct and I was wrong. 2LT lists leatherette seats and leather wrapped steering wheel....

Still, Swapping a steering wheel is not easy or cheap... I would not go there....

A friend of mine recently swapped out his steering wheel on a 2011 Subaru WRX. He said it was relatively simple and quick. The center part stays connected to the steering column. The outer ring unbolts from the center and the new one bolted right on. No changes were required related to the air bag or steering wheel controls. Just the external disk.

I personally think the Spark has a nice steering wheel, as shown in the pictures above. It is definitely a higher quality material than the seats. Even if it were an easy replacement, I can't see any reason to change it.

I think I like this wheel better than the Volt's.
