    Electrify America Charging Station Problems

Excellant suggestion! And note that if you plan on using EA charger at least 3 times a week, it will be cheaper than just about any other charging company if you pay their $4/mo subscription fee. Why? Members don't pay a $1 connection fee, AND the electricity is about 28% less expensive (in CA...

    Juicebox Pro 40

I have this faint recollection that with the juicebox, using the juicebox software, you can set it to stop charging at a certain % . (I don't have one)

Bad 12V battery equals disabled car

But an ICE can be jump started and then drive away in a minute. An EV generally has to be charged for several minutes before trying to start the vehicle.

    Replacement Battery Cost

I will get rid of my spark when it hits (about) 35-40 miles of range. That will be in about ... 15-20 years. It will still be a great "around town" car for us until it loses half its capacity. My wife and I "discuss" (meaning : fight) about who gets to drive the Spark. We also have a gas-mobile...

Bad 12V battery equals disabled car

Anyone with an EV should have a Li-Ion "jump start" unit available. They are small. You can connect it to the 12V battery, wait a minute, then start the car. Once the car is started, you can disconnect (the main battery powers/charges the 12V when the car is turned on). If the car has fits when...

Is anyone else experiencing brake issues [failure]?

I suggest going to the dealership that did the work and talk to a manager. Try to convince him (or her) that the work was not done properly, and that THEY should be responsible for the repairs. When they say "no way", start talking about twitter and facebook and yelp - they won't want to see...

GOM (estimated mileage) and battery degradation

DrMorgan, you have been tracking the battery capacity of your vehicles for a while and (i think) even have posted details of battery degradation in your 2 sparks. I remember that you posted a while ago that you would experiment on 'not charging to full' - have you done that and has it revealed...

GOM (estimated mileage) and battery degradation

Visited a friend recently, he plugged me in to his company's L2 network while we ate lunch (a *very* long lunch) and went to 'full' for the first time in .... 4 months? Temp was around 78 degrees, and I was very happy to see that my 2015 Spark EV had a full range of ... 106 miles. Yes, it's...

Best way to charge for battery life

Oh, and : http://www.mychevysparkev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=8934 Different topic (12V battery), but important : http://www.mychevysparkev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4616 Other topic , but interesting info : http://www.mychevysparkev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=9033&p=26475#p26473

Best way to charge for battery life

I would suggest reading these threads : http://www.mychevysparkev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4464 http://www.mychevysparkev.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4701 There are lots of opinions about battery life expressed. Personally, I don't charge to 100% unless I need the range - I generally...

    Torque Pro walkthrough video.

Then don't. Personally (my experience) I got a really, really cheap android phone exactly for this "one limited use case". It cost me much less than the OBD reader itself. That is all that it is used for. And no, I don't think that Torque Pro is available on iOS.

Miles or time - biggest factor in battery degradation

Can't answer based on facts presented. I think *how* (and how fully) the car was charged is more important than anything in your example. I think that the battery in a vehicle with 10K on the odometer that was charged to 100% every night in Phoenix, with temps over 100, will be in worse shape...

    Torque pro battery capacity guess...

I recommend getting a smart trickle charger (12V auto battery type) an trickle charging your accessory battery overnight. The car will not work if the 12V battery goes south, and if the car sat around for a long period of time the 12V battery might have been damaged. I have this one and love it...

    Charging 101

You got it! I would advise NOT always charging to 100% - only charge to full on days that you think you will need the extra range. I try to charge to 70-80% most days (I do that by manually unplugging the car).

Do you have a Reddit account?

Me being the old fogey, I thought that reddit was a "now, now, now" medium (random stuff posted, then it falls off a cliff and disappears), and not much historical info available. I'll have to try it then. (and judge it harshly  )

    How to lower kwh

    - Don't drive fast. - use 'L' mode (more aggresive regeneration). - let the REGENERATION slow down the vehicle, instead of the brake pads. (Drive in 'L' mode, and start slowing well before the stop sign/light by letting up on the accelerator - you will be going 4-8 mph when you get to the...

    Torque pro battery capacity guess...

    A) Yeah, I don't quite (but might as well) live inside San Jose (CA) city limits, so pretty much completely urban driving, and the 'expressways' aren't 'motorways', they are two or three lane major traffic roads that allow you about a mile between stoplights. B) Yup, speed kills range, and it...

    Torque pro battery capacity guess...

I think you made the right choice. Earlier this year I bought a 2015 with 12K miles on it, and it had 17 kWh left in battery capacity (according to Torque Pro). During the warm months, I am getting about 100 miles range (around town, including 45-50 mph expressways). I think it's worth the...

    Two battery questions

    1) the amount of energy displayed by the chargepoint unit shows total energy pulled from the grid, not *necessarily* how much goes into the battery. First, there is a conversion loss (AC to DC, 240V to around 370V, maybe around 85-90%). Also, if the battery cooling system, or the AC, or the...
