    Crazy Door Locks

My 2014 Spark started doing this. I switched to the second key fob I have and it now only does it VERY sporadically now. Notsure what's really causing it. BTW, I usually only get 24-31 months from an auxiliary battery. Not good in my opinion. Years ago I'd get 4-5 years from a battery.

Spark EV Not Charging on Local DCFC Units

Everytime EVGO does a software upgrade I have to call and complain as 12KW is the fastest it will charge vs 50-60KW normally. Usually takes a couple call before they get it fixed. Shouldn't be this way, but it is.

Start a 100k mile club for Spark?

95,000 on my 2014 Spark, with about 12KW left in the battery. With batteries costing $13,000 or more will probably buy a used Bolt. Too bad, otherwise would drive the Spark into the ground. Sigh...

Effects of Fast charging and efficiency (miles/kwH)

Having a 2014 Spark with 90,000+ miles and frequently fast charging my battery capacity is around 13 Kwh. I'm still able to get around 64 miles of range. I've found that a headwind ( even very minor) significantly decreases efficiency, while a tailwind increases it. Also road surface and...

Checking battery on used '14--large discrepancy between guess-o-meter and the calculation method

I have a 2014 Spark with 90,000 miles and about 12 KWH of battery capacity left. I average 5-6 miles/KWH in town and 5 on the freeway ( hyper miling @ 55 mph ) and can go about 60 miles freeway driving. The GOM looks at an average of power usage over several days driving for it's readings. If...

    Spark ev died while driving!

Every time my 2014 Spark died it was the 12V battery. I get about 30 months use from a battery before it goes titts up. I have a Harbour Freight battery tester ( the one that puts a resistive load on the battery ) and it verified it as weak. Voltage is not a good indicator of battery health as...

    EVgo updates kill SparkEV charging

I've had this issue off and on with other charging networks! It's usually after a software update. I call support tell them what's happening and that I don't have this issue with other networks chargers!! Just keep calling and complaining. Eventually they address the issue.

    Spark EV Braking Question

You might be hearing the pedestrian alert system that engages when the vehicle is traveling 18 mph or slower. It's a white noise that sorta sounds like a turbine from a long distance away, that emanates from a speaker at the front of the car. I find it rather annoying when I have the windows...

    Charging Station Location Map ICONs

Download the Plugshare app. It shows a map overlay with charging stations (type sortable via settings). If you select a charge station it provides detailed info about the stations location, type, operational status and precise directions, location and pictures of the chargers. Keith T.

    Battery degredation

My Spark has 59,800 miles and Torque pro says the battery is at 15.1kwh!! :o Think it's doing very well for a 2014 baby.

    Greenlots RFID problem?

Never have had a RFID card from Greenlots, always use the phone app and never had a problem.

    AC Question

I stand by my post. I have run the AC with the AUTO feature disabled and never seen the car try to heat the vehicle. I watch the power consumption meter like a hawk and would immediately notice a 6-8kw drain. Have never seen this, except when I am asking the car to heat the vehicle. How ever I...

    AC Question

As long as you DON'T have the climate control set to AUTO it will not try to heat the car. So in short, turn off auto feature on the climate control and it will only cool the vehicle. Turn on the AUTO feature and it tries to maintain the set temp by both heating and cooling the car...

Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

Great info!! I lost about 2kwh in capacity last fall. My GOM suddenly dropped 10miles in range in about a 1/2 mile (from a fully charged battery). I did have about 43,000 miles on the clock when that happened. Was rather distressing to see the range drop 10 miles like someone was siphoning off...

Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

I see the same 3.4 volt max on the cells in my 2014 Spark. I know the literature I have seen says 96 cells, but I think the A123 units must have more in parallel to get the 19kwh capacity of the battery, otherwise the cell voltage would be higher. I knew something was up when I divided the...

Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

MrDrMorgan, Your welcome!! I thought others would find this "hack" useful, so shared it with the community.

Thinking of getting 2014 spark ev

Bought my 2014 Spark 15 months ago with 35,000 miles on it. Now has 48,000 range runs 83-95 miles (depending on how efficiently you drive. I'm an old hyper miler so get 6-7 miles/kw in town, 5 miles/kw freeway). Battery capacity is 15.8 KW, I fast charge about 6-10 times a month as I frequently...

Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

My OBDII device should be delivered to me tomorrow and I am looking forward to start testing. It seems this would be an excellent way to test the HV battery and other things in a used Spark EV before buying it. My thoughts exactly!! You can see the battery capacity and individual cell...

Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

There's a long list of PIDS you"ll have to scroll threw and select the ones you want. Good thing is they are active and reporting in the list ( as long as your paired to the OBDII unit and it's plugged into the port ), so it makes the decision of whether you want to watch it easier. There are...

Battery Degradation vs Battery Limited Warranty

Yes, it is a hidden file. You have to go into settings, then "explore" and that will open internal storage where you will see all your files. One should be labeled"torque". You'll have to copy the PID file from the download folder and add it to the "Torque" folder. Then open torque pro and...
