Center Screen not working

I'm on my 2nd screen, first one replaced under warranty, so took the car to the dealer and was told there had been a short and the whole unit would have to be replaced at a cost of $1170.10 and since GM is on strike the part is not unavailable. Needless to say I won't be spending money to replace it, instead I bought a $30 bluetooth speaker and I'll have to guess the outside temp from now on.
Luckily A/C works fine. Any one else been quoted for this issue or had similar problems?

^ I was just going to ask which screen? the one with the radio in the center of the car or the center meaning the one that shows you how fast you are going and what level the charge is along with the odometer

You can always try a recycling yard or one of the places that rebuilds them.
