Hi, community!

I recently installed a HID system from Retrofit Source. All good, until today, after two weeks of installing it, when the right headlight started failing to fire up on the initial startup, only flickering on after driving a bit.

Despite swapping out parts, the issue persisted. Retrofit Source's customer service wasn't helpful at all, so I returned the system and ordered a Phillips one.

I did some research, of course. I found out that the problem might be my 12V battery going bad. Now I am looking for advice on replacing the Volt's 12V battery. I have heard it is a "special" battery and might cause system issues during replacement.

Does anyone have experience with upgrading or swapping it out? Thanks in advance!

It's likely not your battery. The Volt won't operate if the battery is even slightly faulty. If you're having issues, it's a good idea to check other components of the HID system or consult a professional for further diagnosis.

Yes, you are right, the 12V battery might be the issue. Though, in the Volt, this battery powers the vehicle's computer system. This is why they call it "special". It is really important to get the BCI number correct. And when you replace it, just follow the proper procedures (in case you don't want any other system issues). Good luck.
