I have one and run Torque Pro on my android phone and tablet.
I use it on my gasser and had it for a while on my Volt.

I am not brave enough to plug it into the Spark EV yet to see what there is to see.

What most people are doing is purchasing a OBD2 dongle that has bluetooth. Search amazon/ebay for "ELM327". They are clones of the ELM327 chip and the SW implementation is shoddy. Just be warned that these are typically inexpensive but the quality is...um...reasonable for the price?

Plug it in, pair with phone. There isn't much these apps can do. Mostly because the ID numbers are different than a typical gas car. About the only thing I've seen work is when the sparky threw a check light and I was able to pull trouble codes.

Our car shares 95% of OBD2 PIDs with the Volt; I have personally added/verified/updated many of the items on that Google Docs spreadsheet. Enjoy.

This is exactly what I was hoping to see. Battery temp especially.
Where did you get the PIDs? Or were they just there?

Now I have to come up with a mount for my 7" android tablet!
A 3 x 7" screen Spark EV !
Plus my 5" nuvi that uses Garmin's backup camera option that is already mounted between the 2 stock displays.

EDIT: Plus the 3" display on my Garmin Dash Cam 35 (when it gets here in a month.)
Plus my 5" nexus5 phone,, that I really should have mounted when driving, you know?
That would be 6 different displays. Nerd heaven in a ~90 mile BEV !!

Dang, I lent my OBD II adapter out and now can't remember who has it. I sent emails to my buds.

Do you know about modifying the 'display type'? Some of those that have the name of the display going beyond the square can be enlarged or changed to a totally different style of display.
There is an 'analog' round gauge option that still has a digital numbers at the bottom.
Is "ATF Temp" available? Those three temp displays would be great to see how hard things are working in the summer heat.

Also, I plan on plugging in at home only when battery temp gets cold enough to need heat overnight. With this app I can now see that !

I am really looking forward to playing with all this new data that can be displayed !
I need to order a 7" tablet mount for cars now....

Hat tip to solder for setting up the challenge. Took me a while to get to this. Priorities...

That was a screenshot of Torque on my old 7" Galaxy Tab GTP-10000.

Yes, battery temp! Yes, pack voltage. Yes, Charging System temp! And etc. Lots and lots of sensor data through which to wade.

I had to upload the Volt PID to the appropriate folder on the Tablet in order for Torque to display anything.

No editing necessary. If you know Torque, you know how to add sensors. What I discovered was that whilst editing the display and adding sensors, have Torque connected to the active ELM327. Torque will show you which sensors are generating actual data and which aren't. Turning the car on/off during this process makes it much easier to choose. I made a crappy video of that process (turn on HD or it's hopeless):

I haven't fooled with changing the display style/type, but yes, I do know it exists. I'll look at that when time is available.

I seem to recall "ATF" something in the list of sensors, but I'll have to look again. Temp sensors was what I was really after, and then power-in from AC charging. The rest is just icing on the cake.

Torque is pretty slick, but since I don't have anything that plays nicely with Android it doesn't work out for me. A quick glance shows that Engine Link should have some Volt PIDs loaded natively and will accept Torque custom PID files, so that should make things a lot quicker to get set up. As we sniff out Spark EV specific CAN ids, perhaps we can make a new Google docs place for this (and link to it from the current Volt/Ampera one, or add it as a second tab...)?

Sure, we can add a new tab. The only thing I can think of that might be Spark EV specific would be the individual battery cell voltages and module temps, but I have a sneaking suspicion that they're the same on the Volt too. Just haven't had a chance to test that theory, but I know someone with a Volt, so I should give it shot.

Well, to be pedantic, the individual cells aren't being "broadcast" on the Spark, you have to issue a command to read them. I know a few people with Volts, it's just a matter of convincing them to let me hook up a mess of circuit boards and weird software to their cars to settle this debate

For this with iOS devices looking for an easy way to tinker with OBD2 stuff, I can tell you that this hardware and app work well. This was truly plug and play, and within a few seconds of plugging the hardware into my OBD2 port and installing the app on my iPhone 6 (with iOS 9), I had added the pre-loaded Volt library to see some neat stuff on the Spark EV. I only scratched the surface using the Volt library and got these channels:

I haven't monitored it while charging, but so far the rest of the displayed channels seem to be working as expected. Lots of Volt specific stuff doesn't work, as expected, such as battery module info, engine/trans info etc. In the future, I think it'd be fairly simple to create a Torque library, as mentioned above, specific to the Spark EV, which can be used for both Torque (Android) and Engine Link (iOS).

The 'Drive Unit's' lubricant. It may have a temp sensor. The Volt did. ( Automatic Transmission Fluid )

I can't get either of my two OBD-II to BT adapters to talk to the 'ECU', (Engine Control Unit). The car's main computer, we don't have an engine obviously....
I get stuck with this screen below. I've fiddle farted with every other setting I can find. One of the adapters worked on my Volt. I bought a new different maker one, then found the original.
I'll buy the beer for anyone that can figure out what I'm doing wrong !!!!!!!
