    L vs. D

This was discussed in another post. We've tested it. Seems certain that there is a "de=celerometer" involved, so that the brake lights come on when decelerative force is above a certain level, but not if you're decelerating more gradually. Seems to be engineered intelligently and work properly...

    Triple Honk Always

Hey, little1er, you said "...when I dim them for an oncoming car that I activate the triple honk." I think that means you're pulling the turn signal lever towards you to dim them; that DOES always give the triple honk. When you want your high beams to turn on and stay on, you push the lever...

    Suggestions: Dear Chevrolet

This issue must be the same in all Sparks, gas or electric (I would think). My son, who is 5' 6" has been complaining that the back seat headrests can't be locked into position low enough for his comfort. I paid no attention until a friend who is the same size was riding and made the same...

    Triple Honk Always

Ours does it at any speed. The honk is such a quiet set of toots it doesn't bother me so much, but it would be great to have it work only over 19 mph. I love the car in so many ways, but I do find that the setup of that stalk for bright vs. dim lights is counterintuitive: having to push it one...

    bike carrier

Sesamecrunch, that's a beautiful Brompton bike! I've been using a Bones rack we've had for more than ten years (had it on an Accord sedan originally). The Bones rack is so adjustable, it was easy to get it on the Spark & have the bikes hang perfectly. The upper feet rest on the top of the back...

    Range--No problem!

Some weeks ago I saw a post stating that the brake lights come on whenever you lift all the way off the go pedal while in L. Since then I've wondered what people must think of us Spark EV drivers if they see our brake lights on all the time, for long stretches of deceleration. Last week I had...

    Torque Steer

Bob, that's a very interesting idea to change tires. I've already concluded that we will have to replace the stock front tires at or before the expiration of our 3 year / 36,000 mile lease; no way the tread will last. So why not replace them now, with more functional tires? It's clear, as you...

Does the Spark have a website like the Volt?

That's pretty nice. We'll all have to sign a petition to Chevy to have that interface and communication for the Spark!

    Torque Steer

How's everybody doing with the Spark's torque steer? It's something anybody who drives the car becomes aware of in short order. I noticed it the first time out on a test drive and decided it was tolerable. A Tesla owner asked me about it, not knowing about torque steer; he said he was totally...

Does the Spark have a website like the Volt?

Through OnStar, this Web portal shows all our Spark data in real time: https://www.onstar.com/web/portal/hfchome We get email messages when the car is fully charged or needs maintenance, etc. The OnStar mobile ap allows us to start the car remotely, unlock doors etc. Described here...

How long did it take to get your plates in CA?

We've been waiting almost seven weeks for the plates. That's about how long it took to get plates for another car we purchased last January, so I'm not too nervous yet. Amazing that you guys got them in two weeks... but I like the car without plates anyway :-)

What residual are you getting on leases?

There are so many posts about the $199/month lease offer. When we leased the car in July it became clear that offer is pretty much a marketing gimmick that dealers have no obligation to honor. Our local dealer informed us that offer was only through Ally Bank, and they wouldn't do business with...

Buying experience and a few questions

"California Center for Sustainable Energy" http://energycenter.org/clean-vehicle-rebate-project/chevrolet-spark-requirements I took my application for the rebate to their offices in person (about 15 minutes from our house) - A very upbeat buzz there.

    Charging at home on 120V

You don't lose any charge when you unplug the 120V charger from the car. Just unplug it, close the flap, stash the charger in the car & go. You do want to get a240V charger installed at home. Chevy will pay $500 towards a Bosch charger (they'll sell you a Volt charger for $450 + shipping, or a...

Spark trip, efficiency, and range logs

A matching set of Spark EV's. Awesome! I totally agree with Blackmamba's reply; you'll be seeing much higher range estimates once the car reads your driving pattern.

    SoCal EV meet Saturday, May 23 @ Santa Ana, 8am - 11am

Well, you'd have to ask Tony if he was being the polite host during our hot races. He was a polite host at his house, but in our second race he figured it out and stomped it with intention. He had a lot more wheel spin than the Spark, so the Spark jumped ahead right away, and as Tony commented...

    SoCal EV meet Saturday, May 23 @ Santa Ana, 8am - 11am

Tony, thanks for a good time, good food, and good company. OK, Spark drivers, my Spark was a little lonely. It would like to see some more Sparks at the next gathering. But the drag race was satisfying. :geek:

Dimmer top half of speedometer numbers

We don't detect any "dimmer top half of speedometer numbers". Maybe I don't know what's meant by that, but I don't see anything that would apply in our car. We also find it strange the uppermost display is devoted entirely to the passenger airbag status. How we wish that there was a larger...

Listen up Chevy! -- The official suggestion box...

I wasn't talking about a CC vs. no CC test. I know you're absolutely right that using CC is helpful if you can cruise at a steady speed and would otherwise needlessly accelerate & decelerate. I was talking about a test using CC in L and doing the exact same route with CC set to the same speed in...

    Home charging on a generator

Owner's manual says specifically not to use a generator for charging, but gives no explanation. I suppose this is just Chevy covering the chance that a generator is going to vary it's rate & the car's safeguards won't protect it?
